How to Get Rid of a Yeast Infection - These Top 3 Tips Work!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Here are my top 3 tips on how to get rid of a yeast infection. They are based on sex, diet and hygiene. To really understand why these 3 tips work so well you first need to understand the root cause of yeast infections, and the underlying conditions that can 'trigger' them. You'll get all that here.

Yeast infections are caused by a yeast type fungus called Candida Albicans. This occurs naturally in us, but is kept under control by our beneficial bacteria. However, under certain conditions the flora can 'overgrow' out of control and cause the symptoms of a yeast infection.

The underlying conditions that can help trigger this overgrow are things like; antibiotics, pregnancy, contraception, bad diet, diabetes, poor hygiene and a lowered immune system, etc.

Now that you know the cause and triggers, you'll have a better understanding of how my top 3 tips on how to get rid of a yeast infection can be effective...

1. Do not have sex with a yeast infection.

Although sex itself doesn't cause yeast infections, it can transfer it to a partner. Not only that, once the partner has it, it can be transferred back again. This is why so many women and men complain about recurring yeast infections after sex.

One of the main problems is that mainstream drug-based topical creams, pessaries etc., only attack the symptoms and not the root cause of yeast infections. You think you're cured, but only your symptoms have gone, the root cause remains.

So when you have sex thinking everything is okay, your infection flares up again. You need to stop having sex until your infection is completely cleared up. Note that a condom may help, but only a little, since some spermicides can actually encourage the fungus. No, it's best to stop sex altogether I'm afraid!

2. Cut refined sugars out of your diet.

Refined sugar (white) is a great food for the Candida yeast fungus, helping it to grow. So that where the body has higher levels of sugars (e.g. in pregnancy, with diabetes, poor diet, etc.) the yeast has more to feed on and thus multiply. You need to reduce or cut out refined sugars from your diet. Of course this includes candy, etc.

3. Don't use deodorant sprays and douches in and around the vagina.

Sprays containing scents, fragrances etc. can irritate sensitive areas like the vagina. Areas inflamed in this way are a breeding ground for the fungus to take hold and grow.

Douching can upset the careful balance of good bacteria and yeast fungus. When this gets out of kilter, the result is a yeast infection.

These 3 tips on how to get rid of a yeast infection, whilst very important, can only be part of the complete solution. Not only do you have to get rid of the symptoms, you need to eliminate the root cause and address the 'triggers' mentioned above. But drug-based treatments really only address the symptoms.

Which is why thousands of women around the world have turned to a totally natural system that has cured their yeast infection fast and permanently.
